The 2024 National Kitten Coalition Veterinary Conference (EVENT) Speaker Agreement

By completing this form, the Speaker agrees to present a session via a web/online platform on Sunday, October 20, 2024, and will make every effort to comply with all speaker deadlines before the conference.

Nothing in this agreement shall be construed as creating an employment relationship, agency, partnership, or joint venture between the Speaker and The National Kitten Coalition (NKC). The Speaker authorizes NKC Event organizers to use the speaker’s name, photograph, and biographical information for the purposes of promoting the Event via electronic means and printed materials and for the purposes of submitting to agencies authorizing continuing education credits.

Content Ownership and Presentation Access

Presentation content and materials developed by the Speaker are the property of the speaker. Sessions will be recorded and made available to Event registrants and for post-conference purchase through the NKC eLearning Center for no more than 180 days. The Speaker understands that permissions granted to NKC under this agreement do not prohibit the Speaker from using the presentation, including handouts and other materials, in the future in the Speaker’s personal or professional work. The Speaker will be provided a copy of their video presentation upon request.

The Speaker warrants and represents that the speaker’s presentation and any related materials are factually accurate and contain no matter libelous or otherwise unlawful, and do not infringe upon any third-party rights. The Speaker further warrants that such Presentation(s), handouts and related materials are either: 1) the Speaker’s own original work or 2) available for use without permission because they are in a public domain or 3) when materials utilized in the presentation are not the Speakers’ own original work or in a public domain, they are either: a. presented with permission of the originator/owner of the material or b. are believed to be within the “fair use” exemption of copyright law which includes use for purposes of criticism, news reporting, commentary, teaching and research.

Handouts

Speakers are required to provide at least one handout which will be available to Conference attendees. Providing attendees with the presentation slides is encouraged but not required. Other types of handouts may include, but are not limited to, session proceedings or outline, charts or diagrams, listings of references cited or recommended, specific medical or surgical protocols, or any other documents which will aid attendee learning. Please ensure that handouts are clearly labeled with your session’s title and/or speaker name and submit them at least three days prior to your technology test (see below). By submitting handouts or other documents, you are giving the NKC Event Organizers permission to reproduce them and place them online for viewing and download.

Presentation Equipment

The speaker agrees to use his or her own equipment and internet connection to present the session(s). The NKC Event Organizer may require presentations be run from a central location on the day of the Event; all speakers are required to submit a final presentation to the Event Organizer by October 16, 2024.

AAVSB RACE® CE Approval

As this event is intended for veterinarians and credentialed veterinary technicians/nurses. The NKC is required to submit speaker credentials, including a CV and session information, in order to obtain RACE® CE approval.

RACE® CE Quiz Questions

Speakers are required to submit multiple-choice type questions (along with answer choices and the correct answer indicated) for each session as follows:

  • 60 minute (or less) sessions: Minimum of five questions and answers
  • More than 60 minutes: Minimum of 10 questions and answers

Questions may have 4 or 5 multiple choice answers (i.e. A-D or A-E choices) and are due by Friday, June 7, 2024.

In order for NKC to meet external submission deadlines, it is crucial that speakers submit materials by the deadlines stated. We thank you for your cooperation.

Poll Questions

We ask that speakers provide at least two Poll Questions to be used during the live sessions. This is meant to engage attendees, while also providing feedback for speakers. Poll questions can be anything from who is in the audience, to specifics measuring attendee comprehension. Multiple choice or True/False questions are recommended rather than those allowing open-ended responses.

Technology Test

The Speaker agrees to be available to test technology and interaction with the presentation platform at a mutually agreed upon time, approximately 1-2 weeks prior to the conference. The presentation slides, handouts, and polls must also be submitted at least 3 days prior to the technology check session. Please note: due to potentially limited bandwidth for some attendees, videos included in the PPT presentations must be reduced in file size prior to the technology check. We can assist with this if needed. As a backup, we recommend that speakers also make their videos available outside of their presentations (i.e., on YouTube, Vimeo, or similar) and submit the link(s) for viewing outside of the presentation. Please submit any such video(s) and/or links to the Conference Organizers at least three days prior to your technology check session.

Changes of Speakers, Session dates, times or durations

NKC understands that occasions may arise prohibiting the Speaker from presenting. Should it become necessary to cancel, we ask that the Event Organizer be notified via email at WebEvents@KittenCoalition.org immediately. We ask that the Speaker arrange for another representative to present the session if possible, but NKC reserves the right to approve or deny any substitute presenters. The NKC Event Organizers reserve the right to cancel any session, but any changes in date, time or duration of presentation would be mutually agreed upon between the Speaker and the NKC Event Organizer.

Speaker Honorarium

A speaker honorarium of $300 per session hour has been set aside for each 2024 NCKVC session (i.e. $150/30-minute session or $300/ 60-minute session). Honoraria will be split equally for sessions with more than one presenter.

By agreeing to participate as a speaker in the NKCVC, speakers affirm that they will make reasonable efforts to meet deadlines for submitting materials and participating in conference preparation activities. Honoraria may be reduced or withheld from Speakers if obligations are not met.

Honoraria payments will be processed within 30 days of the Event. Speakers will be sent a check issued by The National Kitten Coalition. A foreign transaction processing fee, typically 3%, will be deducted from any payments requiring wire transfer outside the United States.

Thank you again for your participation in the NKCVC 2024!
