Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) can occur at any age, but 80% of cats diagnosed with FIP are less than 2 years old; many are kittens between 4 and 12 months of age. The disease was first recognized in 1950 and, until recently, a diagnosis of FIP was a death sentence.

In the past few years, a treatment has been discovered that has a cure rate of approximately 85%. Unfortunately, at this time, the drug is not licensed for use in the United States, and veterinarians can’t legally acquire, prescribe, or administer the treatment. However, FIP Warriors 5.0 is a Facebook group that is bringing lifesaving treatment, resources and support to tens of thousands of cats worldwide.

The National Kitten Coalition’s weekly 5-part article series on FIP debuted on this blog on March 22, 2022. You’ll find the articles on our website, as well as our FIP Tuesday Tips on our Facebook page. Do Not Miss Out on This Important Information!
